Visiting cOmrades In The 'Heim

Some friends came to visit this weekend. Well, in fact, der frühere Chef, but that is neither her nor there.

Friday night was a walk around town.
Think you have a hard time getting from the base of he mountain to the castle? Try being a snail.
* * *

"Hey, remember when there used to be an entire department?"

Pretty standard photographic spot for us.

There is such a fine line between a romantic picture and a creepy one.
Saturday we did a trip to Rothenburg. Rothenburg is actually an old word derived from middle ages Germanic languages which means, roughly translated, The Land of Japanese Tourism Buses.Rothenberg is a walled city, a quaint interior, and enough regional kitsch to put Paris to shame. But, nonetheless, its a cool medieval city to walk around.

Der Hund loves road trips.

Actually, both look reasonable happy to be traveling.

I get bored with pictures pretty quickly.

Did I mention I get bored with pictures?

Das Madchen copied my Hausaufgaben (homework) and, unfortunately for her, Rothenberg has the medieval crime and torture museum.

Someone tell that poor girl how a door works...

It's a walled city, people! Someone's gotta keep an eye on things...

Pictures look strange if the photographer is simultaneously taking the picture and the only one aware that a picture is being taken.

Actually, I think she was trying to push him off.

We visited a house build in the 13th century for a baker and his family. Apparently, standing up straight was not high on their TODO list.
Nazi's? Here in Rothenburg too??

Intruders! Back!

The wall was not made der Junge sized.

If left alive too long, the invading aliens will begin to take human form.

Its a walled city. If we just keep going this way, we're bound to find our way back to the car.
Another tragic example of life imitating art.

Buy some German dolls and put them in your bedroom if you want to be too creeped out to ever sleep again.
Sunday was a trip to Ulm. Much as Picasso had his blue phase, so too did Das Madchen's camera.

We met up with some friends in Ulm and walked...

...to go look at some a building.
